Tehran Heart Center (THC) was inaugurated in 2002 as an 11-story building in an area of 65,000 square meters. An educational, treatment, and research center dedicated to cardiovascular diseases, THC boasts 470 active beds in 21 inpatient units as we as 11 operating rooms, 6 angiography units, and outpatient clinics comprising specialized echocardiography, exercise test, peacemaker, and Holter monitoring units. The operating rooms and angiography units are outfitted with video-conference equipment and conference halls to cover procedures of special educational interest life. THC’s paraclinical departments consist of imaging units (MSCT, MRI, radiology, and nuclear scanning), laboratory, cardiac rehabilitation, dentistry, and pharmacy rendering round-the-clock services. The following is an annual summation of the salient procedures performed at THC:
- Angiography approximately 10,000 cases per annum
- Angioplasty approximately 2,500 cases per annum
- Electrophysiology (EPS) over 800 cases per annum
- Permanent pacemaker implantation over 300 cases per annum
- Temporary pacemaker implantation over 250 cases per annum
- Echocardiography over 30,000 cases per annum
